Experiences With Telecentre Nenasala Sri Lanka

Thank you very much for Telecentre .org Foundation and SPARK (the 4th Global Forum on Telecentres) are launching of the first ever Global Telecentre Awards. And motivating world telecentre community.The Nenasala Telecentre was located in Uva province, Baddulla District, Haldummulla District secretariat area, Rural Village in Haldummulla More Than 200 Kilo meters From Colombo .The Name of Telecentre Is “”Nenasala ICTC Haldummulla””  This area is a highly populated agricultural, paddy field  and Tea Estate area. All race of communities living together very peace fully.

Leadership Management.
The Telecentre was started in 2003 and managed by Sri Lankananda Educational and social services foundation The Telecentre sponsored by Uva provincial council Sri Lanka.
The first time I was appointed as telecentre Manager .The ICT center was started with very few infrastructure facilities. Through The telecentre the community was benefited with ICT related services .In 2006 the telecentre was upgraded as Nenasala Telecentre, funded by e-Sri Lanka Initiative. The project implemented by information and communication technology Agency of Sri Lanka.ICTA
Since 2003 to 2010 the Haldummulla NenasalaTtelecentre Trained and shared my knowledge and experience with more than Ten thousand community people to bring within easy reach ICT Technology, like internet, and ICT skills, livelihood, capacity building for Youths, adults, small children and women who had never seen a computer in the village .Also the Telecentre support to community information sharing activates, support to get employment, the youth get passed in examinations. Because of The success of my hard work I was appointed as  Nenasala Telecentre   ICT Ambassador  after  during this I was appointed as  chairman of Educational and social services foundation, in 2010 National Organizer & member of director board Shilpasayura foundation.

Networking partnership
In 2008 I was assigned as  Nenasala ICT Ambassador as ICT Ambassador to National Telecentre Network  By ICTA . During this period 2009 I was developed an assignment  to gather  with  Nenasala  Telecentre Network in UVa Province The assignment call E3 {E- Business, E- Learning E-Leadership} to develop a system in Uva Province Sri Lanka. To self-sustain the rural Telecentres .I was contributed to Telecentre as leading member of National Telecentre community Development task force, Nenasala Telecentre Regional Infect team. Currently I was a project consultant & project Coordinator for the Telecentre since 2012 up to now.  The Programme calls ICT for North and East Sri Lanka.

Contribution to Telecnetre Community National, Regional globe level.
I contributed to implement local language E-Learning system to National Tele community As a National Organizer Shilpasayure foundation. Sri lanka
I’m a leading Member of National Telecentre Community Development Task Force ICTA section for M&E, Capacity Building. In 2009 my hard work for the telecentre , Made the success of my telecentre.
I won the Title of The Best Telecentre Civil Society Initiative of the year in e-India 2009 Awards.
In 2010 as a Manager Nenasala Telecentre Haldummulla Sri Lanka, I was won the Title of Best ICT enabled Innovative Telecentre Initiative of the year e- India 2010 Awards.

Infect of work to the community

 Innovations introduced.
The introduced a project with support of ICTA e-society development initiative , local language digital content development .the objectives are made content available in local language , promote writing habits among the local community , contributed to increase foot falls and consequently , income of the telecentre.
The outcome benefit the community through access to information knowledge in local languages .the rural people can learn to use ICT for generating and uploading content enhances ICT usage within the community .and hope to divide the digital gap among the rural community and also contributed towards building the knowledge society combined with ICT empowerment.
 The contribution of Research papers as a Co- Author
I have worked as co –Author –can open ICT4D shape future of rural education invention in Sri Lanka Telecentres. I support to present the research paper for IDRC international development research center.
